I’ve been working on the same manuscript for the last eight years and, y’all, it’s fantastic. I don’t believe in a lot of things, but I really believe in this memoir - a story of a summer when, at 34 years old, my college roommate and I reunited on Hatteras to drive ice cream trucks for a friend, despite us both being married ladies who had normal suburban homes and lives. The stories from that summer are so extreme, I suspect folks think I’m exaggerating when I tell it. There’s organized crime and mayhem and debauchery and humor and a personal story arc and it’s cinematic and surreal and perfect.
